Peterson writes an entire chapter against ideologies—feminism, anti-capitalism, environmentalism, basically anything ending in ism—declaring that life is too complex to be described by such intellectual frameworks. Funny story: There’s an academic movement devoted to skepticism of grand historical narratives. It’s called … postmodernism.

For anyone familiar with Peterson, that is a serious burn by the author. And the end of the next paragraph pretty much sums up my feelings on him:

The book leaves you wishing that Peterson the tough therapist would ask hard questions of Peterson the public intellectual.

IMO the man is one of the world's biggest hypocrites, clearly incapable of genuine self-reflection and who can't/won't take his own advice, despite still gladly dishing it out to the alt-right rubes who have fallen for his intellectually dishonest culture-war rants and self-help guru schtick.

What kind of man, several wondered, would marry a dumb, whiny, shrill feminist like this? (Quite a nice one, thanks for asking.)

I can't quite find the words for what I am trying to say but there is something incredibly ironic about a group of people who are so hellbent on partnership solving their problems but not doing anything to be likeable beyond cleaning their rooms. They are so afraid of ending up alone that spinsterhood seems like a nuclear-grade roast to them.

Anyways, of all the grifters who have made fortunes in the culture war, I think its Peterson I revile the most. Really enjoyed this article from a few years ago by a colleague of his at UoT.
