Oh my gooooood I only have comments on two of the books/series. One, I had absolutely no clue The Black Cauldron was based on a book. I am absolutely shook, that is by and large one of my favorite Disney movie, and also a favorite in my family. I will be spreading this knowledge wide and far.
Second, bless them for mentioning Anne Leckie. I fucking loooooved Ancillary Justice and the other books set in the world. The settings and the characters of the books are so wonderful, I had a great time reading them. I feel like they could potentially do well as a series, but you would REALLY need the very right person with a vision to be at the helm. They could easily fuck it up. Hard.
It's always fun to speculate what books would work well as series, or what kind of artistic take the producers could make. But it's also terrifying because they could really fuck up, despite having great source material (cough Percy Jackson cough). On the other hand, you have excellent adaptations, like Howl's Moving Castle. I love both the movie and the book and while they differ, Miyazaki ABSOLUTELY captured the magic and intrigue of the book without making it a 1 to 1 adaptation. Adaptations from books are certainly a mixed bag and leaves people skeptical lol.
