I read this years ago and I still have it bookmarked, and thought I would share on the off-chance that people haven't heard this theory. It's my favourite take on Tom Bombadil.

EDIT after a re-read: One of the reasons why this stuck with me is because I actually quite liked Bombadil -- I was sore he didn't make it into the Jackson films, and I liked his songs and stuff. So having this weird character explained so convincingly is even better. Like the Darth Jar Jar stuff.

Thanks for sharing! I hadn't seen this before, and I really enjoy this take on the character. I should give my old LotR books another read one of these days, and when I do I'll keep this...
