I never realised then who was doing the work and what ground was being broken. Along with Dredd, we had Strontium Dog and a sublime re-imagining of Dan Dare vs the Mekon, which to this day is my favourite

I once saw a Judge Dredd comic uploaded to 4Chan titled (I think) "Blowout!" It was about really smelly farts. I feel like it underlines the "comedy" part of Dredd's black comedy.

Look to the arcs done by Eagle Comics in the US. Those are ICONIC. Dark Judges, Block War, Boing!, Cursed Earth. All good stuff...
