vim is in my opinion one of the best pieces of software I get to interact with on a regular basis. Very sad to hear about its creators passing — a shame!

Lots of companies look to Apple for trends, so Steve Jobs can be argued to have been a shaping force as well that lasted till this day since we still use the form factors Apple popularised. I'm sure there are more, it's tough to say who really had the biggest influence.

Rest in peace. It's probably impossible to quantify how many millions of lines of code that Vim has probably helped create.
This person single-handedly did more to shape how I interact with computers than anyone else ever will. RIP.
