How to avoid AI tools in popular platforms: stop using them. Stop encouraging these platforms- they will do what they like until they experience financial consequences. Why are we collectively supporting corporations that intend to enshitify to the full extent that they can get away with. Because they're convenient?
We get the corporations we deserve, and we do deserve the disrespect and manipulation that they lay on us. And then we complain and we gripe, but the vast majority of people don't actually change.

Very ironic how this page has three banners asking me to try out Consumer Reports' own ChatGPT wrapper and ask it for "expert advice".
On an unrelated note, I hate when websites show a geoblock as something else and I don't get why they do that. I'm currently in Russia and when I open Consumer Reports I just get a page saying "This service is temporarily unavailable, please try again later." It works with a VPN, I know it's available. Why not just say "this website is not available in your country"? Imgur does the same thing, when your IP or location is blocked it returns a "our servers are currently down" message.
