Who's hiring? Who's looking to be hired? (November 2018)
Hacker News does this as a monthly thread (here's October 2018 for example), I'm curious to see what a Tildes equivalent might turn up.

Had the idea to post this because a position just opened up where I work:
Who: Software engineering dev manager
What: Satellite / aerospace company
Where: Seattle, WA, USA
Why: We launch fucking satellites into space. My team does the ground control software, so we control antennas, command spacecraft what to do next, downlink data from them, process it in AWS, etc.
Not at the moment, but probably sometime in the next year. If that happens I'll make sure to post it here.
Would the US's citizens only rule for rocket engineering apply to that?
Unfortunately, yes. Almost anything in the space industry falls under ITAR, so even though we'd like to be more open, we're only able to hire US citizens or green card holders.
I'm a junior engineer at Point Digital Finance in Palo Alto, CA. We're hiring junior and senior web developers. Currently our development team has 5 engineers.
Right now our only product is a 10 year shared-appreciation asset for real estate. Basically you can sell a portion of your home for a lump sum of cash. Kind of like a reverse mortgage or HELOC except we don't have monthly payments.
In case the fact that a junior is posting this throws anyone off, I'm not tasked with hiring anyone. I'm not even really involved in the hiring process.
Who: Senior IT Operations Engineer (DevOps engineer)
What: Technology incubator within a large US retailer
Where: Hoboken, NJ, USA (NYC adjacent)
Why: We're a stealth technology startup within one of the world's largest retailers. Lots of innovation around using technology in retail. Looking for engineers with a solid background in physical hardware / datacenter design & operations and/or a very thorough understanding of Apache Kafka.
Tech Stack: NodeJS via Typescript. Python. Go. Rust. Kubernetes. Habitat.
...if this becomes a weekly thing, I will be able to provide more details in the near future.
UX designer of 4+ years of experience looking for part time remote product design work.
Ya'll tilders should include the tech stack into your posts if you're looking for developers. So far there isn't a single programming language mentioned here. How am I supposed to trust you if I don't even know what I am supposed to work with?
