I was prepared to be outraged based on the headline... but after reading this article, I find myself agreeing with the author that we honestly can't blame Fleischer for doing this. It sucks to see something that was once open source become closed, but I totally understand why he would do that with this project. Working hard over the course of many years on something that is now being used by many corporations who are not providing you any compensation for your efforts, and not even contributing code/fixes back upstream, must be incredibly disheartening and extremely frustrating. :/
