While this does suck for AMD, they could potentially eliminate the hacker's power by leaning into this leak by releasing the code base under an open-source license. Something like GPL could give AMD substantial legal recourse if anybody tries to incorporate this stolen code into their code base without opening theirs as well.

This would put their main competitors in a risky position of trying to use this to their advantage, and would force them to open their drivers as well if they wish to benefit from AMD's driver code.

AMD has been making huge strides in the Linux community by improving their open source drivers. Doubling down on this strategy by putting the entire stack under a GPL license could revolutionize the market for both servers and consumers.
