Not as many as I should be, but I have been slowly getting back into watercolors. It’s more of an exercise than anything else, but it reconnects me back to my proper art roots and gives me something fun to do instead of just watching tv. I think I forget that my creative juices don’t need to get entirely used up by work, and that doing things for myself can even boost the work burnout.

I made a plant pot stand! We had a little accident with one of our indoor fiddle leaf figs when we repotted it into a larger pot. The bottom wasn't glazed so water accumulated under it and damaged our hardwood. Luckily we caught it quickly and will be able to resurface the area but a big lesson learned. As part of that I've decided to raise all of our pots off the floor. I watched a pretty unsatisfying "how to" video on Youtube that used really cheap wood and very expensive tools. Honestly, the whole thing felt more like a "how not to" video to me. I took the opposite approach and used some old redwood posts I'd been saving and a handsaw and chisel. I was surprised how easy it was to create the notch for the cross by cutting sections out with the handsaw and chiseling out the remainder until it was flush. The whole project cost me $1.27, I needed to buy some dowel pegs for the construction, and about 2 hours of actual working time. I even had some left over food grade wax sealant from an old butcher block project. The whole thing is 18inches wide and 1 foot tall. I think the pot itself really makes it. It's an old, heavy ceramic bastard from the 70s I picked up when a house I had been renting was sold and the owner said anything over 50lbs was up for grabs. It took 2 of us to get it in the truck but boy was it worth it!

I managed to finish chapter 5 in the first draft of my second novel today. I started it at the beginning of the year, and wasn't able to work on it for months until I found a good local writers group. It's amazing what just being social with folks that share your interests can do.

I’m a product manager, I’m responsible for designing a new product from scratch.

I’m currently rolling off of my first product that I took to market and putting the work on that one into maintenance mode.

Then switching gears to work on the new product.

I’m currently in the early product discovery phase where I’m trying to think about the problems that our customers have really deeply and come up with some solutions that we can build for them.
