I use ChatGPT a bunch to format data and help me debug if I've stared at something for too long. It's regularly wrong. As a commenter above said, you have to know what you're doing to use this in any productive manner. The times it's right, though, make it really useful for me. I also ask it to translate from a language I don't know to a language I do.

I use SDXL a bunch for cool images for our marketing site and demo apps. My company is in the AI space so it's pretty much expected.

I've been making a demo for an event my company is going to this week. It's pretty complex and I'm proud of my progress.

    The flow is as follows

    • person takes selfie on booth ipad
    • crop image to specified dimensions while focusing on their face (we need portrait photo and the ipad setup will be horizontal due to tripod needs)
    • remove image background
    • generate background from big list of prompts
    • composite person with background removed over generated background
    • run the composite through controlnet sdxl
    • add polaroid style frame and our logo to top
    • add dynamic text based on the prompt from earlier to bottom of frame
    • upload image to dropbox for booth attendant to print on request
    • send person their photo via intercom (they are added as a lead via API and a conversation is started)

Probably the most complicated app I've done so far but I'm having a blast!

I'm a frontend engineer. I am in charge of our marketing site and flagship product demos, but it's a startup so I also dabble in design for said demos (former life as a graphic designer). I'm a remote worker so I am in my PJs and hanging out with my pets. It's pretty cushy. I do work plenty late when needed, but I feel extremely well compensated for it.

I met my BF of 4 years on Bumble and we own a house and two dogs together and are definitely getting married. Most of my friends met their SO in real life, so it's definitely possible to find a long term partner on an app, just rare, in my experience. For us, we're both neurodivergent, so knowing we were interested romantically because we met on Bumble saved a lot of awkwardness and questions. Everyone is different!

I'm reading the Mistborn Trilogy. I'm coming straight off of The Stormlight Archive and it's fascinating seeing which characters Sanderson "reuses" throughout the two stories. They're not the same characters (besides Hoid, of course!), but there are some VERY similar traits between a few key characters.

Side note, I loved Mistborn book 1, but I'm on book 2 now and it's definitely slowed down so hoping it picks back up!

We got all that and more! What we did not get was a dining room, but our kitchen is large enough that we eat in there. We clearly have our priorities, lol.

I'm a frontend engineer. I have a background in design, and it translates really nicely to frontend work. I love what I do. It's been a matter of finding the best environment, as the code itself is super fun to me. The different factors are mainly the people I'm surrounded by as well as the work life balance. I'm actually about to start a new role at an AI tech startup and I have high hopes for this place's culture.

I'm going to be sewing riding tights for myself (I've started horseback riding again!). I picked up some grippy material from JoAnn for the inner leg / full seat area, and I'll do the rest in an athletic knit. I'm adding a strip of shiny black knit down the side for interest. I'm pretty excited!

I've been super happy with my Silhouette Cameo 4! I never got a Cricut due to the whole fiasco with the software a few years back (you had to be online and couldnt really save locally). I've had zero issues that weren't purely user error from being a beginner. I still have it years later and it works good as new.

I was super artistic as a kid! The best thing my mom ever did for me was being genuinely excited to see what I made. She didn't have to fake it (kids can tell). She loved all of my art and displayed it proudly.

On the supplies side of things, I coveted good pencils. Maybe look into some soft pastels and nice, thick sketching paper as well (I'd look for a spiral close sketchbook with tearable pages). As others suggested, a class could be really fun. Definitely let him take it as his own pace!

Coming at this from another perspective. I personally don't let my greyhound off leash unless he's in a fenced in yard. He has basically zero recall. However, my boyfriend's uncle had two dogs with amazing recall. They were both hit by a car in a parking lot after a nice hike. They both didn't make it. He wishes he had kept them leashed. Not trying to scare you, I had just never thought this would happen to someone I knew.

Really cool reading about everyone's projects.

I've been learning testing via Jest. I'm using react-testing-library alongside it in my Next.js project.

I've also been learning GitHub Workflows and GH pages. We always used automated processes from Netlify / Vercel. It's super fun making the workflows leave PR comments with my test results.

Also set up Loki for Storybook. I added reg-cli for a nice visual regression report that I have deploying to GH pages and then added as a comment on a PR.

Really satisfying to put a whole CI/CD pipeline together :) (I set up CapRover on Hetzner last month and been loving it)
