What creative projects have you been working on?
This topic is part of a series. It is meant to be a place for users to discuss creative projects they have been working on.
Projects can be personal, professional, physical, digital, or even just ideas.
If you have any creative projects that you have been working on or want to eventually work on, this is a place for discussing those.
Pretty much this.
Started doing hand-built (meaning no pottery wheel) ceramics about half a year ago, these are from the first batch that I feel comfortable offering for sale. Only to facebook friends for now.
I have been working on my faerie garden with my girlfriend, we are sculpting doors for the trees from some oven-baked clay to put beside the current tiny chairs, tools & benches.
I come from a culture that traditionally believes in Aos Sí and it’s fun telling her about various lore, why certain trees are never cut down etc.
I love this idea! Would you be up for sharing some of your traditional believes here? No worries if not :)
I've been working on this party game for over 4 years now in my spare time. I'm a perfectionist and want it to be exactly as I envisioned it because I truly believe that these days you only get one shot to make an impression on someone. If they don't like the game on the first try they're not coming back in 6 months to see if it's improved.
Since I'm really close to what I would call acceptable for an initial release, still have to do a lot of final tweaks and the drudge tasks of finishing a project, I have given myself an artificial deadline.
Invited a bunch of friends for a party and I'll announce that I'm releasing the game to them at that date. Since doing this I've been extra motivated to finally give to my friends the app they have helped me test for so long and always ask me when is ready.
I've been grinding hard these past weeks to achieve this deadline as I really want to finally finish this project and be able to share this thing I poured countless hours of my time into with the world.
I've been working on building a 3D, PS1-like game in Godot. It's slow, and I'm not a game developer by trade, but the design patterns are similar to ones I've used working in real-time software. We'll see where it goes; its very early.
I'm building a small shelf for my bug zapper to sit on the wall between my kitchen refrigerator and my back door. It's not super special, but I'm taking the opportunity to play with style, joinery and finishes. It's gotten pretty complex, using the router, table saw, jig saw, hand-made templates, jigs and epoxy wood filler, all for a shelf only 5 inches deep and 16 inches wide. This is kind of a fun project just for me with all kinds of details that no one else will ever see. Maybe someday the lessons I teach myself will be applicable to a future project.
Photography. Three themes now are is (1) sports, (2) flowers and (3) fall color. I am going to a few college varsity games a week of any kind and then coming back, looking at maybe 500 pictures and taking the best, repeat. I am printing out

I am about to go out to a Sprint Football game which is American Football with a 185 lb weight limit to see Cornell play Navy. I don't have big expectations for the photos because it is under lights but I want to try out my new monopod and mostly I want to spent a beautiful evening at the stadium. Tomorrow I am driving out with a friend to catch a Rugby game at St. Bonaventure because I've been watching the Rugby World Cup and wanting to see one for real, even if it means missing the finals.
i’m finally sitting down and starting on a documentary about one of my favorite musicians. I have been “planning/researching” for it for months. recently had a break from work and have been putting in full-time hours on the project. It’s starting to come along and i’m excited to see how it grows.
I'm going to be sewing riding tights for myself (I've started horseback riding again!). I picked up some grippy material from JoAnn for the inner leg / full seat area, and I'll do the rest in an athletic knit. I'm adding a strip of shiny black knit down the side for interest. I'm pretty excited!
