What creative projects have you been working on?
This topic is part of a series. It is meant to be a place for users to discuss creative projects they have been working on.
Projects can be personal, professional, physical, digital, or even just ideas.
If you have any creative projects that you have been working on or want to eventually work on, this is a place for discussing those.
After some discussion in a discord about wooden puzzles (specifically unidragon ones, but they were out of my budget, so mine is a knock-off),I bought a massive (40cm high!) Maine coon wooden puzzle and finally finished it the other day! I then glued it together and it's now hanging on the wall.
Was really relaxing to spend a few hours working on it with streams or podcasts in the background
Continuing music pursuits- learning more piano. Messing around with synths. Honing skills and absorbing all the inspiration I can to eventually transmute all of that input into hopefully some original tunes. Not in any structured way or anything. Just watching videos for technique and playing stuff by ear and learning some chords. Recorded a partial cover of a song for fun once I got the piano "riff" down.
I have this old dollhouse by KidKraft that I have been meaning to repaint. I finally got around to it this week and plan on gifting it to my niece for her second birthday in November.
I am crocheting an ugly Christmas sweater! I picked a color palette between two types of yarns so it's mixed which is whatever, but they're about the same size and I just crochet one a little tighter and one a little looser, and that keeps them much more even in terms of stitches per inch.
I have like 5 Christmas themed granny squares I'll be making (4 of each I think) and the rest will be granny squares of matching-ish colors. I just really wanted to make something for myself and this seemed fun and easily doable since crochet is so fast and easy.
I don't have much in the way of an update, so consider this post a method for myself to keep it alive and myself motivated through a vague sense of social control.
I spoke about the desire to get into video editing a
couple of weekstoo long ago as well as the pitfalls of feeling like you should optimize every little thing which turns into an excuse not to start, and there's been a couple of things that happened since then.So far, I have nothing actually recorded aside from some tests. That should've been a red flag, but honestly, this has to do with myself getting sick, my two year old getting sick and more things that just happen life that interfered. I'm in my thirties with a full time job, things happen. I do not feel bad about not having anything yet. While I do have the tendency to procrastinate because of my raging ADHD, I genuinely do not think this was the case. The idea to do this project has been too much on my mind for that to be the case.
There was a point where I started on the project but quickly realised that I value audio quality enough that I needed to at least get that set up. I've went and set up my mic and I'm currently testing how distance and positioning affects the quality of the recording.
Next is to actually start the recording and roll with it. If you'll allow me to be vulnerable here for a bit, I'm worried two ADHD things happen before I start: procrastination due to fear of failure, and anxiety due to perfectionism.
This post is for myself, to hold myself accountable, and to put another reason forward why I should continue this.
