Struck. Every mode sounds at once, each as loud as the surface moves where you hit. Loudest here is mode 1 at 130.0 Hz. Modes 7, 8, 11, 12 and 2 more stayed silent - the mallet landed on a nodal line.

Really just squeezes the good will for this project out of me. It's a couple of lines. You can write it yourself, dear programmer.

Wow that flashing is hard on the eyes, I hope it isn't an epilepsy trigger.

I remember doing something like this for a numerical analysis course (where we created a drum shape of our choice and then had to do some matrix algebra to calculate the frequency at different moments and strike locations). So even beyond the inherent coolness, this was a nice trip down memory lane.

I'm also impressed by the kac drums. Given the conjecture, I would have thought all drums are unique, but goes to show how often results go against intuition! I'll definitely check out the paper to see how they proved it.

The drum shape selection area isn't calibrated properly to touch locations on my phone, but the actual drum area is. When I tap one shape, the shape one or two below it is selected.
