Writing Club #2 (March) Discussion
We had a stimulating and moderately edgy trial run with our Valentine's Day submissions thread! Thank you to all who took part. Next up is short stories, chapters, essays.
I initially posted this with the wrong date (thanks @eve and @deimos for the help), so I'll put the call out in a fresh post with the correct date.
Woah I totally missed this thread!! Do you mean March, not May? (that might have caused some confusion). Hopefully this'll bump it into a few more people's view.
I would like to suggest again the theme of liminality/liminal spaces. It could be about them, the creation of one, a disection, the destruction of one, or just take place there. Anything and everything liminal.
Mostly posting to increase thread visibility, but also to request a definition of liminal. Or perhaps that’s part of the prompt. What is liminal?
Liminal is a sort of between. The definition is:
relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process.
occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold.
You can also look into liminal spaces. These can be real places (like a train station that's simply a point people transfer to other trains to) or even the emotional betweens; coming to realizations or on a precipice of something. Like, summer vacation could be a liminal space even!
I feel like when writing, you can definitely push and pull the definition of what liminal is, as well as liminal spaces, but this is the gist of it!
Crap! Yes! Thank you for seeing this. Would you mind terribly if I post a new thread with the correct date (March 14)?
No problem at all, changed (make sure to update the text too). Thanks for organizing these threads!
(It might not hurt to delete and repost either, since it seems like you didn't get any attention this time for some reason)
I'm not sure what the procedure here would be, but you could see if someone can change the title instead (@Deimos can for sure, I'm not sure who else can off the top of my head). But I'm also not sure if it would be better to repost it or if that's sort of against... The etiquette?
I edited this and am in the process of posting the same info in a new thread. Thanks again.
