This building nearly broke Taipei. The Taipei Performing Arts Center; Over budget, a decade under construction, and one of Asia's most important cultural buildings.

"Asia's most important cultural buildings." Is a wild title to me. These countries host the birth places of ghandi and buddah. They've got theatres that have been running for a thousand years....

By comparing the building to other iconic and culturally important buildings like the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum and Sydney Opera House. And later they also talk more about the geopolitical situation in Taiwan, who are using the theater to help further legitimize their position on the global stage.

p.s. If you want more info on that particular aspect, here is a related article from The Sunday Times:

I lived in Taipei for a year, but unfortunately never got to visit this building as it still hadn't opened when I left. Taipei has some really great buildings, from the obvious Taipei 101, to The Grand Hotel, or the CKS Nemorial Hall. As a lover of big/weird buildings, this building is definitely on my list to visit if I go back.
