"Asia's most important cultural buildings." Is a wild title to me. These countries host the birth places of ghandi and buddah. They've got theatres that have been running for a thousand years. What does this mean (beyond just "please click this")
It's only a 10 minute video, and it explains what they mean by that in the first 2 minutes. E.g. By comparing the building to other iconic and culturally important buildings like the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum and Sydney Opera House. And later they also talk more about the geopolitical situation in Taiwan, who are using the theater to help further legitimize their position on the global stage.
p.s. If you want more info on that particular aspect, here is a related article from The Sunday Times:
Why the Taipei Performing Arts Centre is Taiwan’s newest weapon against China
Nice article. Thank you.
I lived in Taipei for a year, but unfortunately never got to visit this building as it still hadn't opened when I left. Taipei has some really great buildings, from the obvious Taipei 101, to The Grand Hotel, or the CKS Nemorial Hall. As a lover of big/weird buildings, this building is definitely on my list to visit if I go back.
