This is an interesting lens to view interface design from. As the author points out, these visual brain triggers are inherited from the real world with skeuomorphic design. But as we have moved past skeuomorphism, these triggers still seem to remain behind, at least in good interfaces. I don't do much user interface design myself, but I am going to consider these ideas when I setup my computer working environment.
I wasn't 100% sure which tilde to put this in, so please move it if you think it fits somewhere else better.
Counterpoint: I can't stand the animations in iphones and similar. Makes the ui feel sluggish. I much prefer instant responses and changes.
