The crisis has set up a fierce debate about whether the city will reach a “day zero,” where the Cutzamala system falls to such low levels that it will be unable to provide any water to the city’s residents.

With the mayor calling "day zero" fake news and attributing rumours to political opponents, they're going to keep sticking to providing water to a smaller and smaller circle of the rich while ignoring the problem. They'll never reach day zero as long as they keep supplying "District 1" until the end, right?

Luckily mayoral-ship is easy to replace......right?

The sinking is mighty alarming as well.

Also I did not know that Mexico city is number 5 for population: bigger than New York, Beijing and Mumbai.

It will be interesting to see what happens as the lack of water starts causing certain cities to fail. In what situations will the cost of the existing infrastructure warrant implementing technological solutions to adapt to the climate crisis and in what situations will people just move?
