    Beryl has intensified into a cat 5 faster than any hurricane has intensified into a cat 4, and way early into the season.

    I’m disappointed this fact and its implications are not getting more news coverage. Perhaps the Mayan calendar was off by 12 years.

      Unfortunately, while I have heard media coverage, much like this article, about how severe this storm is, I think it's getting the coverage that a major hurricane that's not currently on track to hit the US gets within the US.

      I have a lot of feelings about the way the Caribbean is treated by the USA more broadly, but I also live in an area not directly impacted by hurricanes at all, so my media coverage might be less than that of an East Coast or Gulf state.
