We had the one yesterday that was gentle. Tonight's actually scared the hell out of me. It was a quarter as long, but got really intense at the end. Everybody who was home evacuated their apartments except me, who got literally caught with his pants down in the toilet. All I could do is shelter in place and hope for the best. I'm 30 miles south of LA.
Checking the USGS map, the hundreds of aftershocks are mostly happening in Naval Air Base China Lake, where there are few people in the 30 miles radius where it's going down.

Terrifying. We all know it's going to hit eventually. Hopefully it doesn't do too much damage when it hits, but that is most likely wishful thinking.
It's been downgraded to a 6.9, but that was the title of the article as I found it.
updated to reflect that.
Thanks!
7.1, actually. They incorrectly downgraded it.
