I have some personal experience working with bankruptcy. If he really filed for chapter 7, he took an irrevocable step in a federal circuit that is not friendly to debtors.

The chapter 7 trustee is going to thoroughly investigate his finances and his family and friends to sniff out assets for the creditors.

EDIT: please forgive my harsh words. I am ordinarily careful to avoid outbursts on Tildes. Alex Jones is a counter-example for how to be a decent human being. It felt like it needed to be said.

Alex Jones should be reduced to walking around on a street corner with some stupid, conspiracy signs, while drunk and pissing himself before he waddles back to his two bedroom apartment he shares with four other weirdos, and eating a can of condensed bean and bacon soup for dinner.

Seriously. 9/11 Trutherism and arguing about the JFK assassination and the moon landing is cute to a point. But what he put the Sandy Hook families through was absolutely despicable, and if loses his fortune because of it, I seriously don't give a shit. Realistically, Alex Jones will still eat and drink better than the majority of people who have lived honorable lives because the rich never suffer true consequences in this country.

Re consequences, it will be interesting to see. Chapter 7 trustees make a percentage when they find assets to reclaim for the estate creditors and they give no fucks. I don't understand why Jones...

I don't understand why Jones dropped chapter 11 where he had some bargaining power. My guess is he thinks he found smart ways to hide his money and also that he is wrong

He's now sponsored by an identical supplement company owned by his dad instead of himself and repeatedly emphasises on air that it's totally separate and that viewers shouldn't buy anything on the Infowars store anymore because it's going to the creditors.

What is it with these people? They can’t just… not grift. It won’t switch off.

In this world, I take whatever justice I can, wherever I find it. But this is not enough. This guy should spend some time in prison, and never again be allowed any kind of voice in any public sphere.

Hate crimes spiked here in 2015 and, as far as I know, continue to be elevated. I wonder why?

There has been a political insurgency under way in this country since 2015. It cloaks itself in "conservatism" but clearly uses fear of excommunication and hate of the Other as its fuel.

They must lose in 2024. They must.

More than that, the souls of this nation need to return to, as Lincoln would put it, the better angels of their nature. We need cooperation to return. But, for that to happen, we need the other side to reject its chosen path to damnation and return to sanity. Though I'm afraid that too many, in their hearts, have already cried havoc and let slip the dogs of war.

To be quite frank, I await the day that Trump dies from old age. Then, perhaps, we'll see enough of a vacuum of powerful demagoguery that the hatefulness, at least in our federal government, may sputter out. Until that time, fear and intimidation by Trump will keep the GOP on its insane rampage.
