Last night i made Kidney to the mustard accompanied with rice, not sure how to correctly translate the name, but its basically kidneys with a creamy sauce with mustard onions and garlic, i am not good at cooking but i have been slowly ramping up since i moved out and while it tasted good the preparation was a disaster. I forgot to add spices, the sauce stayed a bit too long on the heat and while trying to open a bottle of wine with scissors(because i don't have a corkscrew) the cork went inside and the pressure made the wine basically explode and it got everywhere, i also ended up cutting myself a bit. I will be definitely be making this again pretty soon and hopefully i will be better prepared

Ever since i watched The Big Lebowski, i always wanted to make a White Russian and i got to say that they taste very good, i am now eyeing Expresso Martinis and while i don't have a shaker i am guessing i could put the ingredients on a jar and just shake that

That reminded me of a beautiful chicken noodle soup that I made when I was sick. The kitchen was also a disaster, but I had a bowl and fell asleep. I'd left three litres of soup out of the fridge all night and was devastated that I had to throw it out.....

I've been working on making the very best Bechamel that I can make. I've abandoned this because I can't eat too much dairy (the maker of one of the meds I take recommends against dairy, and they're right, it has helped me). I was doing this because I wanted to make a lasagne, but a really great lasagne. I'd been getting a lot of ideas from the Italia Squisita YouTube channel.

So, now I'm mostly cooking salads from Six Seasons by Joshua MacFaddon -- it's a great book. Really inspiring. The recipes are i) Cucumbers, Celery, Apricots, and Pistachios. ii) Corn and Tomato Salad with Torn Croutons.

I'm also cooking from some books I got from Blasta Books. I got the series two set and they're fun, little, books.

It's grill season here, so the barbecue has been going more evenings than it hasn't. Burgers, sausages, pork, chicken, eggplant, asparagus, mushrooms, onions, peppers... all must go on the fire! Often I'll make a marinade to cover whatever I'm cooking. Usually I go with salty, sweet, acidic, and an oil. Then a salad for the side, and everything is set for a quick, easy, and delicious meal. I still grill in the winter, but not as much; I do so 3 or 4 times a week in the summer.
