I made fancy ramen for my friends last night. Beef broth with garlic, ginger, scallion, and mushrooms, plus a bit of white wine, rice vinegar, and soysauce. Garnished with stir fried onion, asparagus and carrot, and a perfectly soft boiled egg. Top that with some toasted sesame seeds and green onion. It was beautiful and delicious!

I've been really missing Taiwan recently (or maybe just traveling, so I've been making some food I miss from there. Made a big instant pot full of Beef Noodle Soup which was really good, and last night I made some sizzling gravy steak over noodles that you can usually get at street side places that I miss. Was thinking of making some Taiwanese Meatballs or something of the sort!

Last week was a Sweetcorn & pancetta orzotto from BBC Good Food magazine, it was ok. This week was a shrimp and sweetcorn tex mex salad which was so delicious and would make a great dip for scooping as well.

I did Japanese curry over the weekend again. The S&B Golden Curry boxes are becoming easier to find (you can get them at Walmart now instead of having to search through Asian markets, which I frequent anyway). Basically you cut up a bunch of potato, onion, carrot, fry them in a pan a bit your choice of meat (I use ground beef), then boil them for awhile before stirring in the curry mix while it simmers, and serve it on top of fluffy white rice.

I bought a new Zojirushi rice cooker recently, which has improved my rice-making capacity quite a bit. A week or two back I also made sushi rice and attempted tuna-mayo onigiri (with Kewpie beans mayonnaise, of course).
