I've been following the Sandwich Tribunal's RSS feed for some time now, but have yet to officially try any of the sandwiches they've reviewed. That all changed with "The Caesaroni". Completely by happenstance, I looked at the upcoming sandwiches for the month of November and saw one from Toronto, Canada. What? I was going to Toronto for a wedding that week! What perfect timing!

We get to Toronto on Wednesday, and I immediately start gassing up Vilda's, talking about the sandwich to anyone in my family who will humor me. I annoyed the ever-loving hell out of everyone in that airbnb. Finally, they relented (because the rest of Vilda's menu looked pretty good too) and we got Doordash to grab it for us.

First up, my rating. I would give it a 6.5 out of 10. That doesn't mean much without context about how I rate things, but for the record, I thought it was a solid sandwich. I think it would have been closer to a 7.5 had I been able to eat it fresh at Vilda's but the schedule we were operating on allowed little time to dally. Regardless, they did a bang up job and I'll definitely try to get it fresh if I'm ever in Toronto again.

As an aside, I had an (different) amazing sandwich while I was in Toronto, that I paid a hefty price for. I go to the wedding (previosuly mentioned), enjoy myself, and then get back home absolutely starving because they only had appetizers around instead of a full meal. Oh well.

It's 1 in the morning, I'm drunk as a skunk, and I need something in my belly so that I can make it through the night. Everything I wanted to try my street was closed, so I open up google maps and find Oxtail Pho & Bahn Mi. Drunk me says, "sick" and leaves the house still in my dress shoes, to make the 45 minute round trip to pick up a bahn mi sandwich. My heels still haven't fully scabbed over yet, let alone heeled (heh), but I can say the Bahn Mi I had was a 9 out of 10. So try that one out too if you're in the area.

I'm from the GTA and have never heard of Caesaroni sandwiches before, but I'm definitely going to have to seek one out now since you made me curious. No surprise you had an awesome bahn mi here though. We have some absolutely incredibly Vietnamese restaurants scattered all over the GTA. My local Pho place sadly doesn't have bahn mi, but it does have amazing pho, and some other super authentic dishes as well. I usually get their Cơm Sườn Nướng, Gà Nướng, & Ốp-La (lemongrass chicken, grilled pork chop, and fried egg on rice) at least once a month. :P
