I've been getting use out of my new rice cooker. The trick is to not just make plain white rice, but to season it, and then fry some eggs in the cooker too. Then it's a complete dish with nothing to clean up but the rice cooker bowl.

I've been adding chicken bouillion, fish oil, MSG, red pepper flakes, sesame oil, salt, minced onion, and minced garlic into the pot. When pot clicks, I pack the rice off to the side, crack in a couple eggs, and scramble them, then stir it all together and add some soy sauce and sriracha.

It's cheap and filling, and pretty low-effort as far as home-cooked food goes.

Eating / cooking (almost 100% overlap in that for me): lunch for the past while has been stir fried veggies + meat. Then, either add scrambled eggs to have a good scramble, or rice for fried rice, or put it in a wrap. It's good, relatively healthy, relatively quick. I usually top it with some hot sauce. As grilling season has started, there have been a lot of grilled dinners - burgers, chicken, pork skewers, etc. Tonight, though, was nacho night, a family favourite; everyone here enjoys the nachos.

Drinking - a lot of water, some Coke Zero, and more beer recently than I have been drinking for the past couple of years. Last year I drank about 18 beers all year long; I've had that much in the last month, entirely from local breweries. I've really enjoyed Helles Lager during the heat.
