We got a propane pizza oven as a wedding gift and made a bunch of pizzas this weekend with our friends. My wife made sourdough pizza balls that we refrigerated for a couple of days prior. We doctored a Trader Joe's vodka sauce and added Italian sausage and sprouts to most of the pizzas and they came out great. We also made a pickled beet and goat cheese pizza, which was really decadent. As a final experiment, we made a smores dessert pizza by crumbling graham crackers and shredding chocolate onto the dough, then we let that cook and melt before adding marshmallows to toast in the final few seconds. The result was great!

Apples were on sale at the store the other day and while I am pretty happy to munch on a daily apple, my wife and I both independently saw the sale and grabbed a bag. So we have way too many.

With the extra apples I decided to make a spiced apple jam! The jam turned out great. Apple jam in particular is really easy because apples naturally contain pectin already.

I'm not doing the whole rigamraole of fully 'properly' canning this batch, because I didn't make a ton and I'm planning on making danishes with the jam right away this afternoon. I haven't made danishes before so I'm excited.

The jam is so good, and not really anything like you'd find in a store here, so given that I'm currently unemployed I might make some preserves for Christmas gifts. Just need to stock up on the jars.
