The quest for Dungeons & Dragons groups
Hello ~games
Do any of you have experience finding D&D groups who still play traditional table-top, IRL, Minis-inclusive, dice obsessive D&D in Toronto? I have never played outside of Roll20 and I can never figure out where/what to look for in a group (preferably one that's just starting out like me). Having grown up watching the likes of Acquisitions Incorporated and Critical Role, I've always wanted to experience that sort of camaraderie :(
Try your local comic or board game store. They often host games
This could definitely work for you. Last October, I went to my friendly local game store for a large Adventurer's League epic event or some such, and I ended up meeting a bunch of people who all liked DnD and wanted to play together. Somehow it's one of the best roleplaying groups I've been a part of. Anecdotal, but it can't hurt to try!

First up as an aside - the folks from those two shows have been playing together for years, so don't expect too much too fast.
I'd recommend your initial course of action be to make a post on /r/lfg for an offline game in your area. You never know, you might get lucky. Check Facebook as well. There might be a page for your area.
This might sound a little odd, but next check local colleges and universities. Many (if not, most) have tabletop RPG societies and some allow non-students to join. I recommend this over checking hobby shops because most shop games only host Adventurer's League. That's great for many people, but AL is designed to be drop in/out no strings attached, so maybe not best for you.
If all else fails, check the hobby shops anyway. If they run a non-AL game that will include you - that's great! If AL is all you can get, join in anyway. It might scratch that itch you have and best case scenario: some of you might spin off into a non-AL group.

If you are looking for a game to join you may be able to find something on this discord server. There are several games all run by different DMs on different days at different times. I have been in a game there for close to a year now and I have made some pretty great friends in the process! When you join just ask to be put on the wait list and go post what times would be best for you in the wait list room.
Check /r/lfg, that's how I found both a local game shop where I learned to play and my current group!
