From the BGG info blurb, we can expect new artwork, redesigned character classes and a lot of rewritten encounters and story details, but the overall story and its elements should stay the same....

Honestly... awesome! I liked finishing Gloomhaven, and while I'm "done" (that was a lot of play sessions 😅) and I also would always recommend Jaws of the Lion first before someone buys into Gloomhaven, this second edition would probably remove the caveat I always add when someone asks me about it "So if after finishing Jaws, if you feel you need more and are okay with a rougher set of rules and less elegant setup, get the big box". Now it'll hopefully just be "If you finished Jaws and want more, get the big box second edition".

As someone who has beat Gloomhaven, I don't know that there is a spot in my life for this game. A lot looks like its changing, but its not really drawing me in. That all being said I agree with...

That all being said I agree with the OP. I see this as putting a better middle ground between the simplicity of Jaws and the complexity of some of the Frosthaven starters. So I'm happy its getting made. I'll also be following along with all the info just for love of the system.

It presumably also makes the GH characters easier to port into FH, something that is technically possible, but I decided not to do as there is pretty big differences in their design philosophy.

However the digital version of gloomhaven + jaws ot the lion has been great. We are still early in but it lets a group of non-geolocated friends play a scenario every week or two using discord to talk.

I wonder if any of the second edition text changes will migrate their way over to gloomhaven digital.
