If you do play I recommend ironman mode. You can't trade with other players and removes the ability to just buy every item needed for a quest. Instead you actually have to get the drops yourself. It takes much longer but I find it fulfilling.

Star Realms: a digital port of the deck building game. One on one game where each player acquires cards to add to their deck from a shared pool. Play those cards to attack your opponent and destroy their bases. One time cost for the base game and online multiplayer. Additional dlc options to add additional expansions (optional until you are sure you want more variety)
Enter the Spire: Roguelike card battle based dungeon crawler. Choose your class, path and fight through 3 acts of encounters until you face the final evil. One time purchase.
Wingspan: Excellent port of the board game. Collect birds and utilize their powers to achieve the most victory points. One time purchase with expansion as a separate dlc addon.

The only issues I have are with it's netcode if your internet connection isn't completely stable or if your game crashes. On PC I am fine 99 percent of the time but if mobile freezes, which is a not uncommon event on my pixel 7a, attempting to rejoin a match in progress is a very bad experience. It doesn't seem that the clients/server communicate game state frequently. Waiting to rejoin seems to wait until a ttl on your previous turn hits and then let's you rejoin after losing a turn or timeout.

I restarted with Old School RuneScape and eventually just got bored by buying all needed quest items or just saving up for upgraded items other players had farmed. After I got my quest cape I decided to try ironman mode.
I wasn't sure how it would go but after a very short time into my 2 week bonded membership I decided to fully transition. You have to learn about the game and where to find all the things you take for granted by buying them from the Grand Exchange/auction house. I never went as far into the slayer skill on my main given that it's main purpose is to get exclusive weapons.
I am not at the point where my iron's stats are higher than my main and getting the quest cape is a much bigger accomplishment with the GE.
The main downsides are that you are at the mercy of RNG for drops. I am still looking for ahrims robes which I have opened 460ish barrows chests trying to find.

I know the copies of the base game and one expansion both had them when we picked them up last year.
The iaps are to add the normal game expansion cards. We passed one android phone back and forth. It has a splash screen when you finish your turn to know who goes next. You can also assign a few AI/bot characters if you want a feeling of a larger game. Apple link since you specified iPad
You can also play online with either friends or random people if you have internet access and are away from each other on 2 separate devices you would just need to buy the app twice.

If you haven't tried the mobile app yet I would also recommend it. We used it on a few flights in pass and play mode to pass the time.

It is a...My wife, a friend, and I have been finally playing through Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle. It had been sitting on the shelf since the pandemic and we finally played through year 7.
It is a cooperative deck builder where you fight through villians and dark arts events following the books. Mechanics are added each time you win until you have a very large deck and variety of villains.
Our main criticisms are how swingy it can be. Depending on your luck with starting villians and the giant set of market cards you can either quickly build your engine against easy villians then steamroll the rest or get hard locked out from buying anything. It has no mitigation against getting a full row of 6 cost cards such as always available 2 currency cards similar to ascension/star realms. We actually found the developer offer a one time board wipe house rule on bgg but nothing in the official rules.
Criticisms aside we found it fun to play even if it stretches out longer than it should in year 7 especially.

I can't stand the evolution of combat update they did to rs3. My main started out with rs1 and I believe I just finished dragonslayer when rs2 was released. Quit when I went to college but got dragged back into the nostalgia of osrs.

It is a very different experience given that quests aren't simply a matter of buying the required item list from the GE.
Also making due with different gear setups due to hard stat requirements with no way to just buy the optimal item. I still don't have a glory or whip although I am close to the req crafting for the glory.

I got back into it a couple years ago for nostalgia and am now on my second ironman account because I like the idea of finding everything on my own.
Movement starts out very easy but can get quite hectic with the endgame raids. Still not dark souls level but you do have to pay attention not to stand still at all for the final bosses.

I also feel the same about one of my favorite board games Eclipse although the 2nd edition fixed some of the setup time issues.
However the digital version of gloomhaven + jaws ot the lion has been great. We are still early in but it lets a group of non-geolocated friends play a scenario every week or two using discord to talk.
I wonder if any of the second edition text changes will migrate their way over to gloomhaven digital.

The api changes are going to make me quit Reddit for good and I am sad this looks to be the end of 3rd party apps in general.
While browsing one of the myriad of reddit alternative threads I saw tildes.net mentioned. That led me to the invite request thread in Reddit.
I understand to tildes is different than the vast majority of reddit so I understand your decision to not try to pull the main RiF community. However most of the subreddits I enjoyed either lurking or contributing to are closer to this format and I am getting the good vibes of old forums I used to frequent.
That long and unasked for background being said, I usually parse these things via mobile so I look forward to when your alpha app moves forward to beta status.
As an Old School RuneScape player yes Runelite is still the client I see most people using. Jagex even officially added it as an option to their official launcher. They are also using it and common extensions as ways to improve their official and mobile clients.
