I played A:NR reasonably seriously for a few of years when it first came out, it's a great game. We used to go to tournaments weekly, and even drove from Dallas to San Antonio for regionals one of the years. When the game was discontinued, I bought a copy of everything that came out after I stopped playing, so I have every card printed. I'm curious to revisit the game in a decade.

For anyone wanting to try it out, you'll lose some of the magic by not playing with physical cards in person, but https://www.jinteki.net/ is excellent.

Kind of wish there was a mobile option, but all web is always pretty fun.

This is the first I've heard of Project NISEI! I was a huge fan of Netrunner, and even got a few friends into it. Most of the things I loved about the game are mentioned in the article, so I won't retread it, but I really was heartbroken when the game was unexpectedly cancelled. This might get me back into it... so long as I can get my friends interested, of course. :p

Plus, there's something so appropriate about the fact that it's a cyberpunk game, was killed due to corporate licensing problems, but is now being carried on as a free, volunteer project. :)

This has been on my "to play" list for some time and I never knew it was discontinued, which double sucks now as I see anywhere it's available it has more than doubled in price as people try to cash in on the discontinuation. Guess I'll just wait for a good deal or for a friend of a friend of a friend sort of thing to occur as I don't negotiate with terrorists.

If you just want to play with friends and not "officially" (in tournaments or similar), you could always look at trying it out through one of the digital versions, or even printing off your own "proxy" cards. The game doesn't really have any meaningful components other than the cards, and printed ones work just as well as real ones if you put them into sleeves with a real card behind them (get some super-cheap bulk Magic the Gathering common cards or something). The company doesn't want to sell the game any more, so I can't see anything wrong about making your own version for casual play.

Normally I'd agree and being that I tend to deal in rare hardware and parts, but a couple of price history checks showed that the price doubled pretty much the moment it was announced it was discontinued. Their wholesale price didn't change because it was discontinued, they simply went straight for a cash grab. A gradual increase over time I could justify, immediate rise to current price for NIB sets I cannot.

A digital version is the next on my list to look for and it seems that gently used sets can be found on eBay for under MSRP.
