Did Fall Guys always have in-app currencies that you could buy with real money even when it was a paid game? The few videos I saw of people playing it looked fun, so I was kind of looking forward to it coming out on a console that I actually own, but now that it's FTP I won't touch it.

Yes, it did, similar to Rocket League. The game was also only $20, much like Rocket League was too before it was bought by Epic and also made F2P. And based on the descriptions in this post, I don’t think there will be much difference between the two games in terms of the F2P model used either, since also like RL there doesn’t seem to be any base game functionality locked behind having to pay, and it’s only cosmetics you can buy. And even the Season Pass sounds exactly like RL's too, where you only really need to buy it once, and then so long as you max out the level for that season you will get the next Season Pass for free. So as far as F2P models go, it’s by far the least exploitative out there, IMO. You really don't have to pay for anything, unless you want to look pretty.

That doesn't sound as terrible as I imagined--I don't mind the Rocket League model too much. Thanks for the clarification.
