I’m not sure I’m entirely qualified to answer given that I haven’t played many Obsidian games, except for ~2 hours of Outer Worlds, which sadly I didn’t really gel with. That said, I found this trailer pretty intriguing. I can’t lie, it gave me massive Skyrim vibes and though that’s probably just because of the first person perspective and high fantasy setting, if Avowed can capture even a fraction of the wonder and excitement Skyrim offered at launch then I’m definitely interested. Two things that particularly struck me were the variety of locales and enemies, both of which looked pleasingly varied.
You mention opinions have been divisive; I haven’t seen any reactions yet - and with the Reddit blackout, probably won’t for a few days - but I’d be interested to know what these are.
Thoughts? As a huge fan of PoE & Obsidian I'm actually really excited about it but there's been some divisive opinions after this trailer. I actually think that the game looks good, and I'm...

I actually think that the game looks good, and I'm excited to revisit Eora again.
About the game I'm tentatively excited. Of course I'm disappointed that this not the successor to Wadjet Eye's phenomenal point&click Unavowed, but hey, this looks like it could be good. But the...

But the trailer is really bad. Gives me strong "This is Forspoken but by Obsidian so more bugs"-vibes, whihc is just not something you want to elicit in your audience.
However, assuming it's the trailer not the game, hey, could work out. Obsidian has produced some extremely good RPGs in the past, if they don't lean into the action side too much here and it comes out at least moderately polished I'll be playing it.
I think it looks really promising. Someone at reddit games (as a criticism) commented something like "it just looks like a colorful Skyrim"...and to me that sounds awesome. :)

I was really surprised to see such a negative reaction on other sites, saying it looks janky or outdated. I thought it looked bloody amazing. Admittedly, I’m a big Pillars fan, but I think even if...

Yeah, I'm not sure why that's an insult in the first place. That's what I want!
