DMZ in Call of Duty will wipe all player/mission progress for Season 4 tomorrow, what are people's thoughts?

My gaming buddy is obsessed with DMZ. It’s the only game mode he will play. I’ve been on the fence about it for quite a while now. I enjoy some aspects of it, but there’s a lot of it that I find incredibly tedious. I often wind up with choice paralysis when it comes to the various faction missions. Some of the objectives just seemed either completely arbitrary, or were just downright difficult for difficulty’s sake.

This reset might just start to make the mode more appealing to me. I would have preferred the FOB being a persistent in world location where you could choose missions, gear up, and spend earned cash. I feel like the whole COD experience now is just menu upon menu upon menu. Which is very tiring some times. I don’t know..all in all I say it’s probably a welcome refresh to the mode and I can see myself starting to enjoy it more.

There are some missions, especially in the higher tiers of each faction, that are downright cruel and virtually unattainable for all but the most gift and dedicated players. I haven't even attempted those, but I've found that there are a number of missions that seemed absurd upfront and then ended up being fun and doable. DMZ just strikes a great balance for me between progression, reward, and the occasional run-in with hostile or friendly players. Will be interesting to see how the new map plays because I haven't enjoyed DMZ on Ashika or Building 21.

Yeah Al Mazrah has seemed to be the most fun and consistent experience for me. While I do enjoy the occasional bit of ultra violence, I also enjoy working together with other operators. I would really like to see some sort of balancing for assimilation. It seems every time I get into a 6 man it immediately becomes a player hunt.

I got one mission done in BLDG 21 by loading in sans loadout and just repeatedly trying to luck my way down into the basement to get it done. Rough.

I’ve had a few where I do the same. Just come in with nothing to lose. Makes it easier. Or harder. Depending on the server’s mood.

I mean that's what Tarkov does, right? And that game's the extraction shooter. Makes sense. Gives new players a chance to not be rolled by geared-out sweats. I think it's a good thing. Of course...

Of course it only gives you a grace period of about a couple days before the really dedicated players are back up but hey it's something

I loved Tarkov, but the desync and refusal to actually take care of hackers, had me and my group quit. How does this stack up to Tarkov?

Much more newcomer friendly I would say. I haven't played too much of either, but I have played enough to confidently say I'd play DMZ before I play Tarkov again.

DMZ is a mode I didn't know I wanted, and I've really enjoyed it over recent months. That said, I'm staring down the barrel of an impending progress wipe that will reset everything, including my insured slots. I realize that seasonal resets are a common practice in extraction shooters like this but I was curious if anyone had thoughts on this mechanic and whether there might be a better way to maintain balance in a game aside from nuking everyone's progress.

I really enjoyed DMZ but my friend group and I have drifted away from DMZ lately. The missions have gotten to the point where they're all high risk. Like bring in a key and do something with it. And with how DMZ is, where it's so easy to die, and then lose the valuable item, which could take a really long time to regain, it just hasn't been worth it for me. Especially since my duo doesn't actually care about missions anymore after getting his 3rd insured slot.

I think the reset will be good, I haven't take a deep look at the changes, but they look nice to me at a glance. Not having to have missions specifically equipped is nice, and urgent missions seem nice for daily grindables to kickstart things when things are slow.

Generally, I'm all right with resets, since I think it's the only way to really change existing missions and such. Sure they kinda hurt to have to reunlock stuff, but it's a price I'm willing to pay, especially when the mode is still quite new, so I expect there to be significant changes based on feedback.

Overall, I think I'm pretty excited to see how this plays out. I think it could play out really well, and get more people back into DMZ, but I can't rule out that their might be too much grinding to make it worth reinvesting my time into.
