Resident Evil, Sailor Moon, all kinds of silly stuff kids were into. It was such a great time.
One of my favorite things was downloading little used created sound files. Weird mashups of Cartman saying “Look out for Charlie up in the trees” over the beat to Kick the P.A. from the Spawn soundtrack. The internet was just different back then. I really miss the simplicity.

He is after all your narrator for the whole thing and he tells his story quite well. I never find him to be unreliable or unrealistic in his actions.
The setting is really engaging for me as well. I love stories set in the early days of America. King hits the vibe extremely well without it coming across as nostalgia bait.
And of course there is the main plot point of the novel. The title of course being the infamous day in Dealey Plaza where we lost President John F. Kennedy. Now most synopsis will give away some major plot points so I’d recommend going in blind, but if not the story is still very endearing and powerful. Enough so that it’s one of the few books that manage to get tears out of me.

All these apps exist now designed to just give you quick little hits of dopamine and then force you to scroll through endlessly to get to the next. So many skinner boxes exist in our lives now.
Kinda makes me wanna finally go through my Steam library and pay a few more second prices.

The decision was definitely made in order to kill third party apps to direct traffic to their own in order to gain more revenue from ads that they disguise as genuine topics or posts. That was a hell of a run on sentence.
You’re absolutely correct about API access being profitable for them under these current conditions. I assume they set them so high that on the off chance one of the third party devs would actually shell out it would be win/win for them. As it stands with them shuttering the doors for third party Reddit obviously feels nothing of value was lost.

They added many QOL features that Reddit simply refuses to incorporate into their own app which by and large was built off of the carcass of a very popular third party app after it was acquired.
Things like the ability to filter out keywords and specific subreddits from my feed was very important for my own personal mental health. Even going as far as being able to filter out country specific subs that have no relevance to me helped increase the amount of time I would spend browsing.
Reddit is making terrible terrible decisions that will ultimately end up affecting their business. It will end up affecting casual users in the long run and is one of the driving forces keeping me off the platform.

This song is dreampop with some darker vibes to it. The guitar riff in the chorus gives me Boys of Summer vibes and I live for it. I don’t really know a whole lot about the band themselves so I don’t have much to say to the rest of their music, but I love this one.
Oh man what can I say about this one. This is the opening song for the anime Oshi no Ko (which I am obsessed with as well). I prefer the original Japanese version, but linked the English lyric version for anyone who wants to give it a listen.
It’s pop. It’s dance. It’s dark orchestral chamber music? It’s an earworm. It really highlights how parasocial relationships affect celebrities and how harmful the treatment of their obsessive fanbase can be. Particularly in regards to Japanese idol culture. Also the show is really good.
MissingNo. [177013] by Desolate
Some of you seeing this may recognize this number. I assure you it is what you think it is. If you do not know then please. Save your optics the trauma. This song is absolutely written about Metamorphosis, a certain infamous manga about a young girl’s very very dark life path.
The song is brutal, has some absolutely bonkers breakdowns, and almost never fails to remind me of the horrors I read that one fateful day many years ago when I discovered the existence of 177013.
You can save yourself a lot of mental tragedy by just listening to the song which will sum up literally everything you’d need to know about its source material. Cause despite the content I love this song, and the band in general. They write a lot of songs based on anime, and I am a huge fan.

It’s coming across a lot more like Diablo II for me, and I like that darker tone. The pace is a lot slower than 3 as well which is so satisfying after playing like 8 years of that.

I would really like to see some sort of balancing for assimilation. It seems every time I get into a 6 man it immediately becomes a player hunt.

I enjoy some aspects of it, but there’s a lot of it that I find incredibly tedious. I often wind up with choice paralysis when it comes to the various faction missions. Some of the objectives just seemed either completely arbitrary, or were just downright difficult for difficulty’s sake.
This reset might just start to make the mode more appealing to me. I would have preferred the FOB being a persistent in world location where you could choose missions, gear up, and spend earned cash. I feel like the whole COD experience now is just menu upon menu upon menu. Which is very tiring some times. I don’t know..all in all I say it’s probably a welcome refresh to the mode and I can see myself starting to enjoy it more.

Props to Sluggy. One of my favorites. I fell out of touch with it several years ago and thinking about catching up is super daunting. I know I need to do it eventually cause it has to be winding down by now.
