I assume this is so when GTA 6 finally comes out, they can shut FiveM down along with GTA 5 Online, and push everyone to the shiny new (monetized) GTA Online. But, we’ll see :)

I'm surprised the modders are in, considering their treatment by Rockstar in the past. I can only image there were enough zero's on the paycheck to give it a go.

While FiveM itself isn't a "crack" for GTA V in the traditional sense, the mod has allowed for unofficial and alternative online experiences that can work with cracked copies of the game
Doing a quick online search, I've seen no mentions that FiveM's auth mechanism with Rockstar could be bypassed. The only video I found online 1 hilariously asks you to use someone else's credentials, who has presumably already authenticated with RGSC.

I totally agree, but that hasn’t seemed like their M.O. I’d love to see them change that, though !
