I’m still excited for this game, but it feels a little sour that the Zelda franchise latched onto Scribblenaut mechanics so much that they are even appearing in 2D games, and now they’re even bringing back Ultrahand. I’m sure it works for the game, and now that anyone can make a top down dungeon crawler they need something to try and set their games apart.

What do you mean by Scribblenauts mechanics? Can I type the name of anything I want to summon or add adjectives to transform objects?

No, the new game has an echo system where you can copy objects or mobs to your own ends, and I'm more a fan of contained puzzles than something you can cheese with all the swords in your inventory...

Assuming you plaid it, do you feel like the new mechanics in Tears of the Kingdom let's you cheese your way through certain puzzles? I see more overlap with some of the mechanics used in BotW and TotK with the bind function than anything else. I feel like the Zelda devs have done a really good job of balancing what could be over powered abilities with more challenging puzzles to compensate which I really appreciate.

So I can see where you're coming from, because if they don't balance these mechanics right I don't think the game will be very fun. I still feel very optimistic this will be a fun and challenging game from what I've seen so far.

I think the game plays fair, I just am not as big a fan of creating my own solution to puzzles and I totally have that as a personal preference. I would want something like Tunic, where you have to learn what the game is trying to tell you about mechanics and how it reveals its secrets. This game goes all in on the "crafting" mechanics, and even brings back Ultrahand for good measure. So kind of a sour first impression, but it might warm up to me.
