It's an unproven studio, so I'll wait a day or two before committing or pulling back. If they show up for this, they'll show up big. The hype has been immeasurable since 2020.
I know. I've been along for the ride, in a casual sort of way. The hype train has just seemed all too familiar. Having said that, at least the devs haven't seemed to promise much that would be...

Having said that, at least the devs haven't seemed to promise much that would be beyond a new developer, unlike, say, Hello Games. If they can really nail the combat, and all indications are that they may well have, then at least some of the hype may be warranted.
It's one of many reasons why I find people who identify as "gamer" to be a red flag. Though honestly I don't see many people do that much since gamergate.

Only unlike a lot of the other ones (the OK hand sign, for example) there was never much of a public backlash against the co-opting, thanks in no small part to the strange cultural position videogames have occupied over the years.
I've actually been meaning to post a talk topic about the reluctance of our society to embrace videogaming as an artistic medium, so maybe I'll get around to that soonish. As a small preview of my argument, I'll say that I think this icy state of affairs is finally starting to thaw in earnest for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the industry is now among the biggest industries in the world by revenue, if not the biggest.
"This is 2024 GOTY, guy " –first comment I saw
Jesus, gamers are never going to learn, are they?

I won't be pre-ordering either way.
Every generation must learn the lesson anew.
Sometimes, every generation has to learn it a few times, apparently.

It's usually just someone that likes to play games. The vast vast majority does not interface with internet-only social issues.
