Arcane copyright laws aren't just for corporate brand protections or future revenue protections, you can also use them to facilitate your ridiculous political agendas or suppress views you disagree with. No surprise then after big corps got their say in copyright law that bigots and crazies get their chance to abuse it by telling people they can't express regular views while streaming their gameplay for a game they 'own'.
I'm waiting for the tech to proliferate that allows them to enforce even more ridiculous licenses, like I can only listen to my music in one room in my house and if I want to listen to it in another room, I need to buy another license for that. Perhaps there will be another one where I can watch a movie with friends if I buy the watch party license but we won't be allowed to talk about any plot holes in the movie.
Obviously these requests are insane but not surprising. This is just sad. All the MAGA shit heels and any other weird loser needs to fuck off. I was at no risk of buying this game, so now that I...

This is just sad. All the MAGA shit heels and any other weird loser needs to fuck off. I was at no risk of buying this game, so now that I definitely won't that's no brave stand. I just wish games could be played and entertained without shitty companies treating their employees like garbage and the MAGA weirdos showing up to pat each other on the back.

If it's true it sucks, but the phrasing is really odd, even / especially for a literal translation. It seems much more like an attempt to go viral.

Just took a look at some more news, looks like it's fake news: https://x.com/TheAndyCortez/status/1824898982843404547 https://x.com/JordanMiddler/status/1824864368342753719
Hi @mycketforvirrad, sorry for the misinfo! I don't actually know how to deal with this, I'd delete the post but I feel like maybe it might be better to edit the title and link? What do you think?

And worth noting, the google doc in question, which has been edited since this went viral, supposedly originally listed gamesciencemat@gmail.com in the mailto before it was later changed to mkt@gamesci.com.cn. The doc also has the developer listed as "Game Science" when even this article repeatedly points out that the developer makes clear their name is meant to be referred to as GameScience, all as one word. And furthermore, the Facebook link in the doc is a YouTube redirect, not a direct link. All those things makes me think this is a hoax... and IMO, not even a very well crafted or believable one.
Oops I literally just tagged mycketforvirrad for guidance on how to edit this, or if I should just delete this altogether, I didn't want to bother you because I saw you were busy! Let me know...

There is probably some value in leaving it up, so others can learn about it potentially being a hoax. But it would likely be more helpful for @Deimos to weigh on this instead of me though, since...

But it would likely be more helpful for @Deimos to weigh on this instead of me though, since besides modding Tildes, he was also the creator of /r/Games and lead mod there for many years, so he has more experience with handling this sort of stuff than I do.
I'm leaning towards either deleting it and reposting the other sources instead, maybe. My fault for posting things without super vetting it, I saw the headline and read the actual article and did...

Yeah, you can always delete it then make a text post with all the links so people can make up their own mind about it. Or wait for a more reputable source that either confirms the agreement...

This isn't a new thing, or a Chinese exclusive thing, it's just the most recent and egregious example of why the current system is bad.
Access media vs. investigative media. Some media outlets are there to filter the output of all of the marketing teams, and some go digging for stories that the industry would rather go unreported....

This is the source from the article apparently (I don't speak french so I have no idea if it's true or not, nor do I follow this creator: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVuo-oqw2EU&t=2sThis is the doc that the creator linked: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aKlZvxWxbPOzldSUdc6CaHmoy80Fl7W_wQt-Ex-vl0k/edit#heading=h.sb5rnv561g88I don't know if it's true or not but it'd be an even odder way to try to go viral, imoProven false, disregard!

probably the latter, gonna be more careful about what i'm posting, or at least turn on my brain when actually reading the articles!
👍

Both are petty thoroughly compromised. Investigative journalism pays even fewer bills unless you want to be a culture vulture.
