Sounds about right. Jon Stewart making fun of Beck with the chalkboard is peak television.

Hah, I have never heard it described that way either. I wish I had these terms when I was a young, dumb atheist arguing with Christians 20ish years ago.

scientists expect Roman to produce over 500 terabytes of data per year.

That's wild and a great example of what machine learning can do to help with this kind of data collection. I wish tech bros would not have jammed it all together and called it AI. Ah well, I'm still excited to see the huge images that should come from this effort.

I used to love Buffalo Jeans. They were purchased by Iconix Brand Group in 2013. Basically a holding company that licenses brands. While I can't point to one thing for the drop in quality, being purchased by a corporate overlord is usually the beginning of that.

Also, you're probably not getting the same quality if they can now sell Buffalo jeans in Costco for $34.99 CAD.

Absolutely. As much as complaining about Tims has become a national pass time, they still have thousands of locations making plenty of money so there are plenty of people happy to eat/drink there.

Don't underestimate the power of routine. I'm sure some number of people go to Tim's because they always have. Also, I'm sure price is a factor. Yes, you could go to McDonalds to get coffee for a similar price, but really nowhere else.

I'm also convinced that people who don't like coffee drink Tim's coffee. They just want the caffeine and it's easy on their way to work.

Yeah I was recently reminded of that when my company came to everyone at my level and asked us to take a pay cut. It works out to a 27% decrease in salary, meaning that even though I have been here for 8 years I will be making less than the managers they just hired last year. Companies do not care about their employees one bit.

I'll second Kensington Market. The best part about Toronto is its multiculturalism and few places do a better job of collecting various foods than Kensington Market.

I already don't go to or support Tim Hortons, so no moral stand for me to make here, but glad to see it getting called out for this.

There is a Lou's 14 minutes from where I am staying, so still works! Thank you. Fudge Pot is not, however, so that will have to wait for when I come back with my wife.
