Always love the list. Mass Effect Legendary edition being 92% off is insane value for someone who hasn't played these masterpieces.

This is the first year in my entire life that I was actually able to consistently and meaningfully exercise. I have now exercised at least once a week for 46 straight weeks although most of those weeks have been close to 5 days a week or more.

I'm lucky in that I can work out at work while getting paid. It only took me 5 years to wake up to that and actually use it. I also purchased the Peloton Row and absolutely love those workouts too.

I have intentionally avoided weighing myself as all I wanted to do is build consistency, which I have done. I don't really have aches and pains any more most day. I'm still overweight, but between working out consistently and drinking significantly less alcohol, 2024 has been my healthiest year of my life.

I become the dictator of the Dominion of Canada and my one act will be to make it illegal punishable by death to charge money for anything type of healthcare.

This includes dental care, mental health care, etc. so many of our healthcare problems are rich assholes trying to destroy our system by under funding so that they can say, see, this is broken and push private paid options.

    Fuck Doug Ford.

Picked up the Omens of Destruction DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3 at launch because apparently I'm a sucker for what they are doing. Started a Skulltaker campaign and having a blast. He is so broken and so much fun. You can gain experience so fast. At one point I gained 8 levels from one battle and 11 levels in total from that turn and him getting exp from other lords. He can get movement back when you kill some lords and from razing, so I've had fun putting together huge chains of destruction. It brings back memories of Taurox before they nerfed his momentum. I usually find Khorne pretty boring since they don't really have ranged or magic but glad I get to enjoy them in their current state before CA nerfs them into the ground.

I'm almost done Skulltakers campaign and then I'm excited to check out the changes to Ogres. I always liked their units but their campaign mechanics were boring garbage. It sounds like most people like the changes CA made to some extent so that should be fun.

Pressing the pedal with your foot hard does not speed up aging. If anything, it slows it down.

But officer, I'm just trying to improve the life of my battery!

This is a pleasant discovery. I think there is no downside to being conservative on battery life for EVs. It would seem ideal to me that people like myself who are driving an EV for the first time would have a more positive feeling about the technology if the battery lasts longer than expected, etc.

I haven't seen this yet. I love my couch. It's a reclining microfiber couch we bought 8 years ago. It has held up to two dogs and two cats, still looks great and is crazy comfortable. I hate how so many couches are low backed. I want a couch high enough I can rest my head against something. I'm lazy. I spend a ton of time on that couch with my wife and surrounded by our animals.

My custom built PC gives me endless joy while also being how I stay in touch with my friends who have spread out over the world.

My drip coffee maker and expensive burr mill make the best coffee. Making coffee and drinking it with my wife to start my day is easily the highlight of every day for me.

Can you tell me more about your washer/dryer combo? That sounds amazing and I didn't know such a thing existed. What one do you have? Any downsides compared to the "normal" setup?

I got a Pixel Watch 3 which has gotten me to workout more in a round about way. I had been using the Tic Watch Pro 3, which had gotten to the point that the only way I could get it to read my heart rate was to power cycle it and that would only last for a day or two.

Anyway, no surprise that a modern watch is significantly better and more reliable, but I'm honestly surprised with how much I am engaging with Fitbit. It's linked to my Peloton account for easy tracking and I'm actually wearing the watch to bed for sleep tracking. I told myself I would do this stuff to justify the purchase but I didn't actually think I would do it. I guess ultimately the best thing I can say is that in days where I normally would find an excuse to not exercise (which is most days) my desire to hit my goals in Fitbit makes me actually exercise and I'm honestly shocked that's working on me so far.

Like many things, DEI needs to be a commitment from the top leadership and have money invested into it, or like anything else it tends to be performative.

During the pandemic, when my company was flush with cash, we had an entire DEI Org with calls and conversations that helped me learn a lot. We were encouraged to join and learn, paid to take these calls from home, etc.

More recently, as my company has laid off over more than 4000 employees including a CEO change, DEI was the first to go. It was no longer important at the top and no longer invested in. Initiatives were shut down, we have one token employee who screams into the void about the fireside chats they are doing which barely gets double digit attendees, etc.

I say all this to reinforce that DEI is not just great in theory but also in practise. The problem is that any time a cooperation is doing something there is usually a reason and that can change on a dime as focuses shift. I feel like I have seen both sides of what that can look like at the same company in less than 4 years.

Video files and folders for Plex. Since I am mainly downloading torrents, naming conventions are all over the place, which Plex does a good job of handling but drives me crazy. So assuming it is a show/movie that I plan to keep or watch again, I go in and standardize naming conventions, move all files into the same folder for seasons. My wife downloads a lot but she could also careless so then I am constantly checking with her if stuff she has downloaded can be deleted or if it needs to be fixed. And all of this serves no real benefit, except it makes my lizard brain happy. Plex works fine with 99% of naming formats.

Cryptocurrency is complex and hard to understand to make it easier to hide the scams.

This is the important part. When crypto bros weren't able to convince businesses to take their coins to buy stuff, they had to find new ways to get the money out of crypto. That was convincing Stooges to buy NFTs and now it's convincing Stooges to buy meme coins.

You don't invest in Crypto, you gamble that you are the one dumping and not the one pumping.
