Ew. Goodie two-shoes! ;) I almost always play the baddies, and Skaven are by far my fav faction.

Yeah, in fairness, I also love the Skaven, well specifically Ikit Claw. Mowing down charging Calvary and my own slaves? Yes yes! I don't know if I really know how to play other Skaven factions if I don't have endless guns and artillery.

I have the most fun with ranged units and magic and ranged units and magic were both better in TWW2. I guess that's probably my main complaint. It's probably why I have enjoyed Tzeentch and Chaos Dwarfs the most in TWW3.

I'm just a little shocked that Canada (which to me, with the health care system in place that ... while it's not the best at least there's regulation?) has this issue.

Ontario has religious exemptions. It has nothing to do with the quality of the health care system and entirely to do with the quality of the policies.

As to your question about how disruptive the community is, I suppose it is all relative. It is a small community. We are talking about cases in the 100s for Waterloo and about 2400 in total for Ontario for 2025. Enough for us to officially lose our status of eliminating measles but also not big enough for us to be too worried, although it is worth watching. One advantage to the insular nature of the community is that they are unlikely to go to larger population centres. So they mainly infect themselves. At least for now.

This would just seem to further reinforce how much our current iteration of media is letting us down. Decades of underfunding, defunding and consolidated by billionaires has led us to this. It's no wonder the local Waterloo paper is the only one interested in doing actual reporting. The Waterloo area is probably just on the edge of being large enough for a news organization to still be able to do real local reporting.

That all said, I actually grew up around Amish, Mennonites and Anabaptists. While not all, they are largely insular communities by design. I am more familiar with Ohio groups, as that is where my mother was born, and there were no language barriers there. So I wonder if this is a recent issue for Waterloo or if that community has always been so isolated.

Regardless, this would all be solved super fast if we did the smart thing and required all kids to get proper vaccines with no religious exemptions, but then we can't even stop publicly funding Catholic schools in Ontario so I won't hold my breath.

Yeah, generally for the sake of time, you auto-resolve all battles outside of really important battles. It's also fun to occasionally share units with the other people playing. Offloading your Cavalry or other micro intensive units to an equally competent co-op partner makes for some fun battles. Not doing that would make it pretty boring sitting there waiting for the other players battles to end. I have never found someone who actually wanted to fight every battle in co-op, but as long as you make that clear heading in I wouldn't be opposed. I'm an only child, I'm good at entertaining myself.

I understand your sentiment. I don't agree, but I understand it and like you I have way more hours in TWW3 so it's not like the step down on quality kept me from playing, especially once IE became available.

The sieges haven't been good in either game, but I really disliked them in TWW3. I hated settlement battles to the point I modded them out and later modded out sieges all together.

My favourite faction is HE, who are not as fun to play in TWW3. I eventually found my people (love Tzeentch and to your point, the Chaos Dwarf DLC is basically the most fun I have had with any DLC). I hope the newest DLC restores my love playing HE. I haven't had enough time with it to decide.

CA ignoring game breaking bugs or dialing to actually fix them is my main concern. TWW2 wasn't perfect but it felt less janky. The fact that I have to mod TWW3 to make parts of it playable is unfortunate. I really hope the new engine fixes their terrible LOS issues with guns.

Regardless, looks like we will probably both be there on release day. Fingers crossed CA can pull it off!

Yeah they also have run into so many line of sight issues for guns. If that's not fixed 40k will be DOA.

And agreed, CAs recent track record is not reassuring. This is the game I want, but I'm not sure they will be able to deliver it. TWW3 was a step down in quality from TWW2. At least they have a new engine for 40K!

I honestly thought we wouldn't get any game play, so I'm happy they showed a bit in the trailer. Definitely need to see more. My biggest worry is they will somehow break things making it also work on console.

I loved the game. It's nice it won a bunch of "awards". It is important to remember that the "Video Game Awards" has always just been a marketing vessel and at least Geoff does a better job with it than Spike TV ever did. Half the awards were just quickly read off a list. That's not a real awards show. That's a marketing show with some awards shoehorned into it.

If you care about awards, the BAFTAs or Dice awards, voted on by people in the industry, would be more relevant.

Total War: Warhammer 3 can be a really great game. I have over a 1000 hours in it and own all the DLC, so I won't get much value out of this Humble Choice. The Total War games never stuck until they started doing Warhammer. Monsters and magic add a lot of variety to the game play and there are insane amount of races and units to be played. It has been my comfort game for a long time.

The DLC does often go on sale but you definitely don't need it to play the game and figure out if you like it before buying. The first and second game also act as DLC for this game providing the base races they came with.

That said, Creative Assembly goes back and forth between doing a great job supporting their jobs and being incredibly incompetent. There are many unfixed bugs in the game. They did a slight overhaul to two factions, which introduced a big bug that basically made those two factions brain-dead and stop making units. When it was brought to their attention they said they would fix it with their next DLC which was a month or two away. They were eventually shamed into taking faster action, which is the main reason for all the recent negative reviews.

The game will also probably stop being supported soon as they move on to their next game, but the modding community is amazing. I still think it's worth picking up, especially if you want other games in this bundle. You could easily get 100s of hours out of it.
