So, of course it's good to have an entire series available on one console, but releasing this so late into the Switch (right before their promised deadline to fully announce the Switch 2) does raise some eyebrows. This could've been a nice launch title for the Switch 2 to give the Xenoblade fans something at launch. I'm sure XCX would benefit from the better hardware.
Since the Switch 2 leaks have pretty universally said there will be backwards compatibility, I hope the Switch 2 goes the PS5 route of offering "enhanced patches" or native ports for their big releases to get better graphics and frame rate for owners of the last gen release. On PS5, however, some publishers including Sony have been charging us $10 for that privilege, which would definitely be on-brand for Nintendo. I would be very upset, but not surprised, if the native Switch 2 ports all required you to re-buy the game at full price.
With this all of the Xenoblade titles are available on Switch. I’m kind of amazed they didn’t do this earlier. It was the one big Nintendo game for Wii U that didn’t make its way to Switch. And...

I’m kind of amazed they didn’t do this earlier. It was the one big Nintendo game for Wii U that didn’t make its way to Switch. And personally I liked it a lot more than the other games in the series.
I’m hoping this one actually has an ending that actually explains what the heck was going on this time.
Big fan of 1-3 and very much looking forward to the release. Every time I've bought a Switch game this year, I've been increasingly certain that it will be my last before Switch 2, but they just...

We'll almost certainly have the details about Switch 2 before 20 March 2025, so it may well be that they also put out a further announcement about how this game will play on that (assuming there is backwards compatibility) before the release date.

To be honest I'm a little bit annoyed that they made the remake of 1 before they released this one. I feel that this game is a little bit of a black sheep since only the few people who bought a Wii U got to experience it, but it's actually the one I found the most enjoyable. Largely because of the big dumb poorly implemented mechs, admittedly - I'm a simple person of simple tastes. But I also liked the generally more mature science fantasy tone as well.

I'm elated about this. This game holds a special place in my heart, even if it's something of a mess. Day one purchase for me.
