This remaster wasn't on my radar at all, but apparently it just came out. A lot of people know the famous visual novel Fate/stay night, but fewer know the sequel Fate/hollow ataraxia. It's not that surprising because it's in large part a "fan disc" with a lot of slice-of-life and lighthearted filler stories and even some minigames.

It does have an actual central story though. Most of the story escapes me now, but I think it involves a mysterious time loop. There are a bunch of recurring characters from Fate/stay night and a few additions too. It's a lot of fun for fans of the original story—you should read the original (or watch the anime) before this sequel.

I'm a big fan of the Ufotable Fate shows though, as well as some of the spin-offs. Never really got into Grand Order though.

So I've read through the first Fate VN, and the first season of Grand Order, which is the phone gacha game, for anyone who doesn't know. The gacha game was huge a decade ago, we could call it the OG phone gacha game

I would recommend the original, Fate Stay Night, it is really long though, so I'd totally understand not having time for it as a busy adult

I've heard Hollow Ataraxia is a good time too, when it came out there wasn't a franchise around Fate, so it was filling a gap when fans were left wanting more after the original VN. Any big fan of Fate will enjoy it, I'm sure, but other people would know better than me.

Grand Order? In short, it's hard for me to recommend in 2025 personally. In 2025, there are plenty of choices for free to play story based games, with better gameplay than FGO and its drip feed story. Steam has a lot of them, and there are Hoyoverse games like Genshin Impact, and so on. FGO's story is very mid until a few chapters in, when the company was blown away by the number of players they had, and started to put effort into it. One of the biggest draws was the collection of waifus and husbandos, but those aren't hard to find these days either

I ended up rambling there, anyways it's a cool franchise lol
