A friend sent me this video, and it eventually led to me trying the game out! It's from an older playtest, but the points still hold up perfectly.
It's a great introduction to the game and extraction shooters in general, and what really sets Arc Raiders apart from other games in the genre - which, as the author pointed out, have mostly been Tarkov clones.
Honestly, before trying it the genre seemed uninteresting and overly complicated to me, but Arc Raiders genuinely feels like a breath of fresh air.
The sound design is what really stood out for me. So much of the game revolves around it. In the video, the author mentions hearing someone looting from a distance. Walk into a building and alarms might go off. Get near a car? It starts beeping. The gunfire, the distant extraction sounds, ambient nature, Arcs getting alerted all create this immersion that's hard to express.
Also, PVE combat vs Arcs is way harder than it looks and adds an interesting dynamic.
The game's free to playtest from October 17th through the 19th. I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot!

I liked the game during the playtest but its performance was awful. I have a beefy PC (9800X3D, 9070 XT, 64 GB RAM, Gen 5 NVMe etc.) but I got quite a bit of stutter, sometimes outright freezing, during basic actions like turning on the flashlight. Combat was largely fine, at least I didn't get freezes but it kind of ruined the game for me. I'll check back in in a month or so after its release to see if they've improved stability. I hope they do.

I have the exact same gpu + cpu, haha. I know the freezing you're talking about. After it happens on the right you can see 3 warning indicators flash. It doesn't happen often. I thought it was a server related problems as those indicators flash. Surely will get fixed once the games released. Other than that I had no performance issues and everything was running smoothly. Was averaging ~140 fps everything set to epic.
I don't think I saw those flashes you mentioned, but maybe I didn't notice them. My FPS was about the same with the same settings (at 2K). Another problem I noticed is that when I'm in the Traders...

Another problem I noticed is that when I'm in the Traders menu, moving my mouse around (just that, no clicking or anything else) briefly freezes the people walking in the background. When my mouse movement comes to a stop, they move fine but the moment I move it, they freeze for about a second.
Yeah I don't think that's your PC's problem, it's most likely server and networking issues. My PC's notably less beefy (5600X, 3070, 32 GB DDR4) and I only sometimes got an occasional short...

Edit: Correction, 16 GB DDR4. One of my damn RAM sticks was faulty and I sent it back for a replacement so I'm operating on just one stick for now. It actually runs pretty good, considering.
I was hoping the freezing issue could be chalked up to AMD's graphics driver not catching up to the game, but given that you have an NVIDIA card, it makes me think the freezes are either server or...

I even had a situation where a supply drop landed on a slanted slope which made it impossible to loot because my character would slide down the slope.
I will probably wait on purchasing the game but it definitely has potential.

Looks fantastic...sadly, I don't think I am good enough to serve as anything other than a loot pinada, and that probably wouldn't be fun.
Yeah... had the experience of being one but that's part of learning a new game I guess.
