Nivlak LinkI’ve had a Dahon Speed Uno for a long time, so long they don’t even make the model anymore. I got mine for 500$ brand new. My spouse has a Dahon also but a 21 speed version. I really like the bike and I’ve put over 1000 miles on it easy. The only downside I can think of is the handle bar mechanism can be problematic if you do a lot of heavy riding where you may need to stand and pump hard. The handle bars fold down at the “neck” area and it is just one joint holding them up. It will wear down overtime and the handle bars will become loose. However, Dahon customer service might just be the best on the planet and they have lots of authorized dealers all over the place which is nice.
I don’t know anything about the other brands as they are way out of my price range but they do seem like a good choice if you can fork out the dough.

Nivlak Link ParentI’m plying it right now on ps5. I have maybe 40 hours invested. I think it’s a lot of fun. I mainly solo q. I really enjoy how wacky and goofy it is but there is still a serious fps shooter inside...I’m plying it right now on ps5. I have maybe 40 hours invested. I think it’s a lot of fun. I mainly solo q. I really enjoy how wacky and goofy it is but there is still a serious fps shooter inside the game. The classes are pretty fun and you are encouraged to play with each since they have different abilities. Nothing really feels OP or broken. The devs are pretty responsive.
But again this is a game best played with friends. The ranked mode does get sweaty and it’s tournament based so you’re in for 3-4 games/rounds before you actually get a win. There are a lot of MTs in the game but they are purely cosmetic. The in game currency is pretty easy to get by just playing games and you use that to get weapons and upgrades, etc.
For beginners I’d say start with medium or heavy build. They have more defensive options. The light build is strictly for being a glass cannon imo so it’s a high skill position mainly for dps players.

Dave Chappelle has really lost what made him funny in the first place. For What It’s Worth and Killing Them Softly are some of the funniest videos I have ever seen, some classic jokes. But I gotta say all his Netflix stuff is completely forgettable.
He really did become his own joke. He did a bit about how people care too much about what celebrities think, the famous “let’s see what ja rule thinks”. In that joke he basically says stop listening to famous people cause they don’t know shit. Fast forward to now and all he does is tell people what he thinks about certain issues and I’m like why are you telling me this shit? you’re a comedian not a philosopher.
I won’t bring up the trans issue with Dave cause that’s been the main complaint against him for a while now. That is an issue but may need more time to unpack. I just don’t know what happened that turned him into a parody of himself, that he created in the first place.

Nivlak Link ParentI lived on Oahu for 12 years. The locals have gotten the shit end of the stick ever since the islands were taken by force. It’s staggering how little they are offered given the history of those...I lived on Oahu for 12 years. The locals have gotten the shit end of the stick ever since the islands were taken by force. It’s staggering how little they are offered given the history of those islands. One thing you did not mention is that Hawaii is home to lots of other Pacific Islanders. Micronesians, Guamanians, pompei, etc. Many of them are poor and do not speak any English, they often come to the islands for medical care because they are able to get Medicaid through the state. This however puts a massive strain on the islands medical facilities.
I was last there in 2022 and at the time if you were a single person making less than 45k a year you were considered “low income” and were essentially working a poverty wage. The cost of living there is astronomical, truly hard to comprehend. The only way to truly survive there is to either be a very wealthy person or live with a ton of family so you all can split the bills.
Based on the way billionaires and millionaires are taking the land so easily. I predict that the Hawaiian islands will soon be no different than Dubai, a playground for the rich and powerful all at the expense of the poor locals who could never dream of affording a fraction of the life that those wealthy possess.

Nivlak (edited )LinkI work in Oregon with homeless and addicted individuals. Many of them say they do not want to be in temporary shelters due to the conditions of those shelters. They are not well regulated and...I work in Oregon with homeless and addicted individuals. Many of them say they do not want to be in temporary shelters due to the conditions of those shelters. They are not well regulated and pretty much anyone can be in there, sex offenders, mentally unstable individuals, etc. Many of them said they would rather take their chance outside in a tent vs a temp shelter. Many of them are chronic drug users and have no intention in quitting their substance any time soon so that is another layer to this problem.
We have lots of options like inpatient treatment, housing facilities, etc. but they often come with strict rules and guidelines that only the most serious individuals will attempt and make it through. We also have detox services but they are voluntary and most people don’t make it through a week of detox unless they have a program to enter afterwards. Imo I think giving housing to someone who is deep in chronic addiction is a bad idea, we have some of those patients and they tend to live in trap houses where drug users just come and go indiscriminately.
We also have other patients who are working and living their life but they are chronic methamphetamine users. They are not homeless but they are incredibly dependent on their meth use. Many of them do not even get high anymore they just want to avoid meth withdrawals which are not fun.
I think some individuals do choose homelessness but they are not happy about it. I’ve never had one homeless patient say they are enjoying life, it seems they often don’t believe they will be able to escape their situation. The people who do the best are those who still have support from family or friends. We have many individuals with absolutely no one in their life, family is dead or has disowned them or their family is also homeless and in chronic addiction.

I got no issues with sexual content, I think it’s a great time to be a sexy mf, there is real money to be made and it does not typically involve abuse or manipulation, just consent. BUT, I don’t think long term parasocial relationships are a good idea, I don’t have a clear solution for something like that.
I agree with everything you said as a regular bicycle commuter myself. But I do wonder, how do we convince people to start riding bikes who primarily have only driven cars?
