Disney does not care about these issues at all unless they can make some money. That’s why they cut queer scenes when they send movies to China, Middle East, etc. they also minimize the presence of black people when marketing to China and whoever else they think will not like it. They are about making money at all costs. There is no integrity with these corporations.

I agree and quite honestly if my black and colored ancestors stayed here through Jim Crow and everything that came with that, I don’t think I could ever face them again if I decided to leave the country because of my perception of the people in power. My life now is 1000% better than many of my ancestors lives and I just cannot throw all of their sacrifice and death away because I feel a certain type of way.

This is a tale old as time. There are biblical stories of people not wanting to be ruled by a king, overthrowing him, and then assigning another person to in fact act as king. America itself was born out of not wanting to be under monarchy rule but we just can’t help but drift back in that direction in one way or another. People need to have a “king” or something equivalent, it’s baked into the dna at this point.

Also anyone who has not read George Washington’s farewell speech should take a gander. He correctly predicted 200+ years in advance that a 2 party system would lead to an authoritarian rising up and taking power for themselves and never giving it back. We are 95% the way there.

When subverting expectations goes wrong. The director himself has said he has no interest in the DC universe and only took on DC intellectual property to bring more eyeballs to his movie. This feels similar to the 4th matrix which the wachowskis implied in the film itself the studio wanted another matrix and was going to do it with or without them so they said “oh yeh here’s your movie chumps”.

I grew up in a poor Mexican family so I saw a different side of that town. I still have some family there but I have not been back in years. There are lots of run down areas in ft worth. I’m assuming the writer of this piece was only in the tourist environments which of course will always be nice.

Austin is pretty similar to Portland,OR or Seattle even. If you like eating out, concerts, live shows, etc, you will like Austin. It’s skews younger but still lots of families and family events. I have not been there for many years (also native Texan) but from what I’ve heard not much has changed except COL and the population has increased.

I feel you about MW3 campaign. But I have really enjoyed the multiplayer in this game. It takes me back to the early 2000s FPS scene before battle royale became the big thing. I played war zone once I think and it was ok. I spent years playing apex and was never really satisfied with the experience until they added TDM and other non BR modes so that’s how I felt about war zone.

This is the first COD game I have bought in over 10 years so maybe that’s why it feels fresh and fun. I can tell most people who bought MW2 feel jaded and cheated because they dropped MW3 a year later and still charged money for it. I doubt I’ll buy another COD game as long as MW3 is active.

I have no issue with sexual content being present, it’s been around since I was a kid in the early 90s. Kinda became normalized over time. “Sex sells” is something I heard pretty early on and it made sense so that was it for me really. I will say I was completely caught off guard by YouTube allowing full topless nude “breastfeeding tutorials” with what seems to be a large selection of childless onlyfans models. No age restrictions, just a disclaimer at the start and you’re good.

    George Washington’s Farewell Address, 1796

"One of the expedients of Party to acquire influence, within particular districts, is to misrepresent the opinions & aims of other Districts. You cannot shield yourselves too much against the jealousies & heart burnings which spring from these misrepresentations. They tend to render Alien to each other those who ought to be bound together by fraternal Affection. ... ...
"I have already intimated to you the danger of Parties in the State, with particular reference to the founding of them on Geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, & warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the Spirit of Party, generally.
"This Spirit, unfortunately, is inseperable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human Mind. It exists under different shapes in all Governments, more or less stifled, controuled, or repressed; but in those of the popular form it is seen in its greatest rankness and is truly their worst enemy.

"The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissention, which in different ages & countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders & miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security & repose in the absolute power of an Individual: and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.
"Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight) the common & continual mischiefs of the spirit of Party are sufficient to make it the interest and the duty of a wise People to discourage and restrain

"It serves always to distract the Public Councils and enfeeble the Public
Administration. It agitates the Community with ill founded Jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot & insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence & corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions.
Thus the policy and the will of one country, are subjected to the policy and will of another.
"There is an opinion that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the Administration of the Government and serve to keep alive the spirit of Liberty. This within certain limits is probably true--and in Governments of a Monarchical cast Patriotism may look with endulgence, if not with favour, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in
Governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate & assuage it. A fire not to be quenched; it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest instead of warming it should consume."

“However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitions, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterward the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion”

An update to a configuration file (here called a channel file) issued at 04:09 UTC on 19 July 2024 conflicted with the Windows sensor client, causing affected machines to enter the blue screen of death with the stop code PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA.[10][11][12]

That makes total sense, although they say it’s disputed in definition. But this only raises more questions that I’m sure someone has already answered. The general idea seems to be those with more guns/sticks/swords and legal authority to kill people, make the rules. And it’s usually the state - or is it; it can only be the state.
