Stardew Valley turned 10 today! Eric Barone (Concerned Ape, creator) posted this video which walks you through various development stages and his retrospective about the game, along with reveal of 2 new spouses that will be available in the next update.
I've been playing this game on and off since 2017 it's always one of my favorite feel good games. Here's to hopefully many more years!

Stardew released at just the moment that I had been searching for something akin to Harvest Moon to play. It was a truly serendipitous moment when I found it on Steam (which was apparently 10 years ago today at 11:38am according to my Steam purchase email, so I guess I was pretty early onboard) because it was absolutely exactly what I had been looking for in that moment.
Since then, it's been one of my most played games (3rd most hours at 670.6 so far, after Warframe and Skyrim). It's just such a well crafted and complete game! You can challenge yourself plenty of different ways, you can play one farm forever or start over again and again, it's really very impressive for what's technically a relatively limited sandbox, compared to true sandbox games.
I'm looking forward to Concerned Ape's next release Haunted Chocolatier, whenever that comes out, though I don't expect it will have exactly the same magic, I do believe it'll be a good (if not great) game worth buying.
I watched this as it premiered, it was really cool to see the evolution. The graphics changed massively just in the first year! Just seeing the evolution of the builds made me feel so cozy though....

10 years is crazy to think about! Because I’ve mostly played on Switch I’m not sure how it compares to other games by hours played but it must be up there. I’ve certainly started countless farms...

I’ve certainly started countless farms solo and with friends over the years. I even objectively hurt my grad school GPA when it dropped on Switch and I was absolutely mesmerized by it.
Very cool to see how it’s evolved over the years. ConcernedApe is a one of a kind developer and the love he’s put into this game is so special.
