Following Gamescom 2018 my attention was caught by the new Anno game coming out in February. Set in the industrial revolution it promises to be very exiting, I wasn't a very big fan of the futuristic Anno parts (played 2070 a good bit but skipped 2205 completely) and recently diving into Anno 1404 again my excitement is high. It was damped a bit by the news that the new part would include optical microtransactions (German source). What are your thoughts? Are you excited for Anno 1800?

Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of the futuristic Anno games either even though I played them a fair bit (I am a sucker for strategy city builders/economy managers), but am mildly excited for this new one. I didn't know about the microtransactions though... that's concerning and depending on how they are implemented it may kill my interest entirely. I will have to wait until some reviews come out before making a decision on whether to purchase it or not since I absolutely despise predatory microtransaction schemes. But hey, even if it sucks, at least there is a new Tropico coming out Jan of next year that looks promising!

I totally agree. Microtransactions are always on a very fine line between acceptable and excessive. It's a tricky line to walk and Ubisoft have shown in the past that they can trip over to the bad...
