This will probably open up some major doors for the console crossplay, as i believe its one of the first big games that actually allow playing together on Xbox and Playstation. Down the road this might even factor in when it comes to who will "win" the next gen, as i feel that a lot of players initally chose the PS4 in this generation and it had kind of a snowball effect of buyers wanting to play with their friends and therefore bought the console their friends used. If this kind of crossplat turns into a standard, it will make exclusives and deals such as PS+ free games and Games With Gold an even bigger factor, and should in the end be beneficial for the players.

fwiw, Fortnite is the first big game to open up crossplay from xbox to playstation. Rocket League is the second game to enter this beta.
