Dammit, I gotta try Return of the Obra Dinn. I always liked the 1-bit art style but I guess I totally underestimated the actual gameplay, which everyone praises as some of the best puzzle gaming...

EDIT: Okay, so this award continues to be the only one that actually makes me discover genuinely interesting games. I skimmed the list of winners and got curious about Mirror Drop, the winner in the Excellence in Visual Art category. Turns out, the game is (was?) on sale on Steam, so I bought it spontaneously (which is something I usually never do), and wow, this is one of the most mind-fuckery games I have ever played! Haven't been this disoriented (in a good way!) since Portal! The puzzles are really well designed, too!

Also Paratopic (which won for audio) looks like 90s retro-3D might have finally arrived. I've long wondered when the retro-wave would catch up with that era and those maniacs actually seem to have pulled it off! I know there's other games like Strafe but I think most of them were too stuck on literal 90s nostalgia vs turning it into something modern.

    Interesting stuff, all around!
