I remember being hyped about the first game when I saw the teaser trailer, and the backlash the followed when the final game failed to deliver. I never ended up playing it, or the sequel, but the video here looked so cinematic and amazing and ambitious that I can't help but compare it to that original one. Is there now any reason to believe the actual game will resemble what's being shown there?

If it's real, I'm definitely interested.

I suspect the number of possible characters is going to create a lot of repetition and stilted, generic dialog. Likewise I bet that wisecracking AI is going to get old real fast. I hope I'm wrong but it would be a monumental effort to create that much true variety. Kind of like how No Man's Sky gives you a nearly infinite universe to explore, but every world fits one of about a dozen templates and they all start to look the same after you've visited a few of them.

honestly, it's probably too early to say and one of those things that people are probably going to have to follow the development on because even if it wasn't, it's difficult to speculate. in general, ubisoft hasn't had the best record with watch dogs and making the finished product look like what they intended to deliver, and they're trying to do a lot here that if they fuck up is going to make for a pretty bad game. but of course, past course of development are only so useful for determining how future courses of development will go. it might be that they manage to pull off everything they're going for here and then some. there's still about 9 months until it's released, and we'll probably hear more about it at some point, so.

Hmm, seems like an interesting take on the open world game. Multiple playable characters, possibly with perma death (I assume it's an option, though), very different personalities and skill sets. I'm not yet decided whether it ultimately looks like a gimmick (you might as well play one character with lots of different abilities?) or something genuinely unique could come out of this. Kinda want to give them credit for trying, nonetheless.
