Especially resonant for me, because I have a very distinct memory of this card from the Weatherlight block in Magic being the first time I remember seeing (fantasy) Africans depicted in fiction that represented them as figures of power, wisdom, and authority without leaning on generic racialized tropes (magical Negro type stuff). Even without being Black or African it had a real impact in how I saw the world and the types of characters I was able to see myself in.
