    I always found the concept of multiplayer game economies very interesting, and this article talks about an interesting failure mode in a game. I think it would be fun to be in the game company's...

    I always found the concept of multiplayer game economies very interesting, and this article talks about an interesting failure mode in a game. I think it would be fun to be in the game company's shoes and try to figure out plans to fix the game economy while hopefully still keeping it interesting.

    Can anyone clarify whether this multiplayer aspect is optional? Is there a way to play the game in a truly singleplayer mode without a crippled metagame economy? I was super excited for this game...

      From the near the end of the article, so it looks like you don't have to play the hilariously broken part, but not gonna lie I almost want to.

      The sandbox mode, for example, lets you do whatever you like, while the ‘challenge’ mode is, as far as I can tell, exactly the same as Franchise mode, but is offline only. As such it contains an AI-run (and thus unborked) version of the animal market. Props to Frontier for adding the latter in response to player requests during the beta – if they hadn’t have done, this situation would have been more irritating.
